About Us
The Step-Up for Women in Journalism Initiative (SWIJ) is a professional development and advocacy platform for female journalists in Nigeria, particularly active in the South-South and South-East regions. It was founded by multiple award-winning Investigative journalist, Ann Godwin after her participation in a leadership programme, of the Wole Soyinka Center For Investigative Reporting Female Leadership Report women programme with the aim of addressing gender imbalances and empowering women in media.

Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of female journalists through professional development, leadership training, mentorship, and strategic advocacy.
